4 Tips to Help Move a Little More Slowly and Begin to Find Peace in Chaos

***Originally published on JoyMadeApproachable.com on April 5th, 2022 🤍

Hello!

Welcome to, or welcome back to, my home on the internet! I’m happy you’re here, and I hope you’re doing well ❤.

Everyone is living a different stage of life. You may be a young mom, you may be working too many hours to count each week, you might be an entrepreneur where work/life balance may be unheard of for you, or maybe you’re retired and trying to find consistency in your newfound freedom and time. Maybe you’re trying to navigate the new normal in our world. Whatever it is, it’s most likely a lot.

These tips aren’t perfect, but I hope they give you a little bit of an intro to finding a little peace and contentment in your daily life.

I used to be a very go-go-go person, constantly trying to make the most of every opportunity as well as make the most of my life. I’m still a little bit that way, and hope and try my best to live life to the fullest. I wouldn’t survive as an entrepreneur if I didn’t.

However, I took this to an extreme, and ended up burnt out and exhausted during that time of my life.

I’ve found there is lot of grace, peace, contentment, and rest in moving a little more slowly, even if only a little bit more slowly.

This is not an extensive list, but more of a starting point. I am not perfect at carrying all of these out all of the time; however, I’ve found more stillness and peace when I do.

4 Tips to Move a Little More Slowly and Begin to Find Peace in Chaos

Appreciate the little things

Life happens in the small moments – that cup of coffee you had this morning, a life-giving conversation with a friend, going for a walk, your child’s laugh, a hug, a word of encouragement. These are the small moments, but if we take the time to acknowledge them, can make a huge difference in our outlook on life.

Practice gratitude

There are times finding anything to be grateful for can be hard. If you have food available to you, that’s something to be grateful for. If you have a roof over your head, clothes to wear, a job or multiple jobs that pay the bills, a good friend you can count on – all these are things to be grateful for. That doesn’t change the fact that life might be incredibly hard right now. But gratitude can help us keep moving forward. It doesn’t change that life is hard; but it could help change your perspective.

Pray

It can be helpful to check in with God throughout the day, share how you’re feeling, ask for guidance, and thank him for how He’s moved in your day.

Breathe

One last idea that might be helpful is stopping what you’re doing and taking a few deep breaths. This can help calm your mind, slow your breathing, and connect with yourself and God, as well as relax your nervous system.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-27 ❤✨
