Finding Small Joys in St. Paul, Minnesota: Exploring a Vibrant and Cozy Coffee Shop in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Birthplace

Hi!

Welcome to, or welcome back to, my corner of the internet - I’m happy you’re here!

Throughout the past two years or so, I’ve been exploring Minnesota’s coffee and tea culture more and more, checking out unique coffee shops, tea shops, and cafes to work and study from, relax, and spend time with good friends and my husband.

Nina’s Coffee Cafe Breathes Life into the Idea of Small Joys

It might go without saying: coffee can be a small joy that puts a little bit of pep in our step. Drink a little coffee, and you might quite literally be jumping for joy (never mind that’s probably from the caffeine).

Nestled in the heart of Cathedral Hill, St. Paul, Minnesota, Nina’s Coffee Cafe gives a new meaning to small joys and enjoying the little things.

With both creative and more traditional coffees and drinks, including a seasonal rose latte that was recently on the menu, Nina’s helps make it pretty straightforward to find something to satisfy your taste buds and make adjustments as you might need.

The location itself is a combination of cozy and historic charm as well as some industrial vibes It’s a wonderful place to get together with friends or a loved one, work remotely, study, or relax with a good book.

The surrounding area has street parking that’s free, and there is also a paid parking lot nearby.

While you’re in the area, you might also want to consider walking through the gorgeous and historic surrounding neighborhood to visit author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s birthplace. In Cathedral Hill, there are also a variety of local stores and restaurants if you’re hoping to spend the day in the neighborhood.

I Hope This Helps, by Nakeia Homer, is a beautiful book of poetry that has specifically helped me navigate grief, how I fully let go of my past, as well as how I move in my present and into my future. Homer is a gifted writer I deeply admire - I’m grateful she is sharing her gifts with the world.

I didn’t read this book in a coffee shop, although I did take some time to read it when I took myself on a solo date for the first time, after my father figure’s death a few months ago. It was a night my husband was working later than normal, and I wanted to take my mind off life in a relatively healthy way. I imagine this would be a wonderful book to read at a coffee shop during an afternoon or day off.

Wrapping Up

I’ve been on a journey of finding joy in small moments in daily life, like taking time to read, as well as sometimes small luxuries, like coffee or tea from a local coffee shop. I’ve been working on learning to stop waiting on the next big life event or accomplishment to continue to feel joy. Something else I’ve also been realizing is that life will never be perfect, no matter how hard or wonderful (or both!) life is. There is no perfection this side of heaven. On earth, moments of deep joy, the imperfection of our deeply broken yet beautiful world, as well as deep feelings such as grief and pain, can all coexist.

Until Next Time ❤

It might seem shallow, but coffee (and not overdoing the coffee - a key discovery in my life 😅!) brings me, and - I believe - so many others, a ton of joy. I hope this post, and this blog, inspire you to discover small moments of peace and joy in your daily life.

Thank you for being here - I really appreciate that and you ❤.
